Do you have trouble changing your crawling or walking baby’s diaper?
My son is almost 8 mo old. He has just mastered the art of crawling. Sometimes it is IMPOSSIBLE to change him. Occasionally I can distract him by letting him play with a diaper or a piece of paper or a toy. But most of the time, I find myself wiping his butt while he is on his hands and knees, and putting on a new diaper from behind. Has anyone found a clever trick to changing diapers of troublesome babies?
I made a ‘necklace’ with BIG beads on it and would hang it around my neck. I’d move my body so the beads would ‘sway’ and he had a party trying to catch the beads. Just go to a toy/hobby store, get some fun beads and string. It’s 10 minutes to make. He would get bored with it after a while, but then I’d just give him a toy he hasn’t seen for a bit, before he got tired of that too and we’d go back to the beads. They wouldn’t keep him occupied for much longer than a minute or two, but sometimes that’s all it takes.
My son was an early crawler, and I struggled with this from 6 months. At first, because they don’t understand before 9 months or so, I’d just grab him and flip him over. Later, I started saying “No! Get back here’.
He’s pretty good now at 16 months… I’ll say “Let’s go clean your bum,” and off he goes to the bedroom so we can do a diaper change. From time to time, he’ll still roll over and try to get away, but I usually grab him in time, tell him to stop in a firm voice and promise it will be over soon. He’s learned, that the more he struggles, the longer it takes and the longer it will be before he can go play again… lol. Just be consistent, at first it can take 10 minutes (or even longer) to change a diaper, but if you’re consistent and keep rolling him back over, saying ‘no, be still so mommy can finish’ then he’ll get the message eventually. It’ll take some time though.
This question brought back some memories… lol… I can’t remember when he stopped being so squirmy during diaper changes, but he was still at it at 10 months. It’s much easier now, and I’m also better and faster at changes – I had to learn to do it quickly when he started to move around. I have him cleaned up and in a new diaper in less than a minute. If it’s just a wee diaper, it’s ten seconds! lol
I think it’s just a phase, and most babies grow out of it. Later, it’s a game of ‘catch’, when they jump off the bed and you have to chase them throuh the house to catch them for a diaper change. Those are always ‘fun’.

baby walking toy.. name?!?
I was trying to find a learning to walk toy for my daughter and my dad mentioned something he saw on Nickolodeon. He said it was a walker, that opened so the baby would be standing inbetween the toy with a wheel on each side, then it could close for when they got older and it was a riding toy… it’s a NEW commercial and I can’t figure out what it is?! DOES ANYONE KNOW?
