is it too soon to start teaching my baby the alphabet? ?
My son is 8weeks old today, and he is smart for his age, he rolls over holds his head up, has about 8baby words, and i think that if i start to teach him the alphabet now that he will have an easier time learning it when he can talk.
i am going to print off two page letters color them and teach him them 2 at a time. using words and objects like apples etc to show word association.
has anyone done this or something like this and what was the out come?
will u try this with ur baby?
do u think it will work or not, and why?
WOW, I realize that he cant talk, and that he is to young, the whole point is to get him used to the shapes etc, but mostly to spend time with him, its better than setting him to the side or placing him infront of the TV.
I just had to answer this because I think if you want a smarter baby to go for it and looking for ideas at 8 weeks old isn’t too early.
my definition of “smart” is a child with excellence in these categories:
verbal proficiency
creativity
analytical skill
stick-to-it-iveness
ambition
inquisitiveness
There is so much more to having a smart child than just knowing the ABC’s. Language, getting a huge vocabulary is a big thing to focus on at first it affects reading in a few more years. My kids started talking and signing by their first birthday and using sentences by 18 months. If they don’t actually talk young, that is OKAY, just keep giving them the vocabulary through books and you talking, when they start to talk they will catch up quickly. When they have earaches, be sure to talk directly into their ears and read a bit more because they aren’t hearing well and it affects verbal development. Reading to a baby usually starts with one word per book and lots of play and grows from there.
How to enrich your baby’s life!
Don’t let them watch TV unless you are doing it together and interacting with your baby. Your baby’s brain develops the most during sleep so do everything you can to have great sleep habits for your baby. Perhaps while your baby is so young and you have a bit of time you could read the book “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Baby”. You will learn more than you ever wanted to know about sleep and its impact on brain development and it will benefit your child throughout his or her life.
verbal: read books (start now), describe everything your baby shows interest in to give them more vocabulary (start now), teach your baby to sign, start about 8 months old, teach your baby to read start about 2 1/2 years old* before they learn the ABC’s so its easier. I take my kids to the park and other peoples homes often and encourage them to interact with the other kids, I think the more people and the more situations they have to interact in the quicker their social abilities will develop. I’ve had LOTS of people comment on how smart, confident and outgoing my children are from very young ages.
creativity: when they start to talk, encourage them to play games using their imagination, let them test out ideas instead of just saying “that won’t work”
analytical: when your baby starts to grab things put things just far enough away that she had to figure out how to get it, when she crawls give her obstacles to figure out how to get over, don’t hover around solving her problems, let her figure out things for herself each and every day.
stick-to-it-iveness: have your child learn a musical instrument (start around age 6) or play sports (ages 5-6), these both provide opportunities to fail a lot and then try again (ie shooting hoops, or learning a new piece on the piano). For your baby get wood BLOCKS–building towers again and again is great, it also teaches colors, shapes, cause and effect, and blocks draw adults and older children in to play with baby for social growth..
ambition: teach your child to set goals, start as young as they can understand.
inquisitiveness: answer all your child’s questions, but don’t spoon-feed, you can answer with questions that lead to more questions and cause your child to reason out the answers for themselves.
If you want to try baby-track potty training that is a lot of fun and could be started now, research “elimination communication” on the internet or read “the Diaper Free Baby”.
Baby Talk Pages

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Page Numbers.?
I’m doing a report on Harry Potter and the deathly Hallows and don’t have enough time to read the whole book again and get my project done in time for school to start. On what page does Harry talk to Remus Lupin about Tonks and the baby? And on What page does George lose his ear? And on what page do you find out that Remus and Tonks are dead?
question one- If you mean where Harry is telling Remus to stay with Tonks, that would be pages 211-214
Question two- For when they first find out when he looses his ear, that’s page 73.
Question three- page 661.
Hope that helped!

Bartholomew and the Oobleck: (Caldecott Honor Book) (Classic Seuss) $6.75 Bartholomew and the Oobleck easily qualifies as a Seuss classic, first told way back in 1949. And its message–the importance of owning up to your mistakes and saying that you’re sorry–is as timeless now as it was then. Bartholomew Cubbins serves thanklessly as pageboy to King Derwin of Didd, a headstrong man who’s decided he isn’t satisfied with mere sun, fog, rain, and snow. (“Humph! The … |
