At what age will my african gray talk?
I have a 1 year old african gray which i raised from birth, she is very healthy and adorable baby and she makes verbal expressions such as calling out in loud noises. I want to know at what age does an african gray start to talk? different people told me differently and i would like to know whether she will be able to talk or not.
I have an African Grey who is around 16 months old. His talking really got going when he was around one year of age. He now has 62 different things he says! When I first got him he didn’t say anything. From one year onwards their speech starts taking off so you shouldn’t have long to wait.
The things that will encourage your Grey to talk are :
1. Make sure she is in the room with you where you spend most of your time.
2. Make sure she is exposed to lots of GENERAL chatter…not necessarily aimed at her…Grey’s are like children in this respect and will be taking everything in. Sing around the house, chat about what you are doing…but most important of all is to really vary your pitch and make your speech more animated when you’re saying regular phrases….like you would if you were talking to a child or a little puppy…that really takes their interest.
3. Some Grey’s don’t talk much, although most do.
4. If she is alone for a lot of the day…perhaps you could run children’s cartoon or other children’s programmes that have animated speech while you are out….so she is exposed to as much chatter as possible.
5. I think in a few months time you’ll be telling her to sshhh! I never thought I would…but mine talks non stop and is always calling my name and asking for things.

Is it normal to despise Jamie Oliver after watching him for 5 mins?
because of his affected wide-boy demeanour, his put-on facial expressions, the way he talks to people, and his unnatural use of slang such as calling his food items ‘these little babies’, and constantly saying ‘the bruvers’
Five whole minutes??? Wow, you’re patient… I usually turn the channel, see he’s on, hear a “lovulee jubalee” or whatever it is, cringe to the point of being on the verge of fainting and change channel.
