Baby Talk Blanket
Why do I hold onto my baby blanket? I just can’t let it go?

idk what it is, like an emotional problem or something?? but i’ve had this blanket since i was like 4 and i still friggin play with her. i even gave her a name. oh, and i’m 15 years old… this is not normal. i TALK to her too. and notice how i keep referring to the blanket as “she,” like it’s a person…? and i can’t even imagine getting rid of her. whenever i’m with my blanket i go into like babymode or something. it’s so weird. and nobody else does this. so what teh hell is wrong wit me ..?

i thought maybe people do this, with like stuffed animals and stuff, when they don’t receive enough love from their parents. i mean, my parents are not very affectionate people, but i still have a relatively good relationship with them. so.. i dunno.
and i do have a social life.. i feel like my best friend has been taking advantage of me lately though.. i should punch her in the ovaries or something.
but that’s a diff story

I think you’re overreacting a bit. You might not know anyone who does this, but a lot of people are attached to objects, especially if they grew up with them. I don’t really see anything all that wrong with it–it’s probably just comforting to you. I used to have a blanket I grew up with and honestly would still have it if my sister hadn’t ripped it up. I replaced it with a pillow, and I don’t want anyone else touching it, putting it anywhere dirty/on the floor, laying on it, etc. My mother uses an old pair of pants as her security. We both just “play” with these when we’re bored, as a calming influence or out of habit and not being able to just be still. For me, I know it’s also just liking having something that has been with me throughout my life and can go with me most places I go. It’s the only thing that really does just belong to me.

How many times should you wash infant hand-me-downs before baby touches them?

I’m talking clothes, blankets, toys, car seats. THE WORKS. I’m thrifty, most of my baby things are family hand-me-downs or straight bought from someone on the fabulous craigslist. I thought washing once with hot water and an extra rinse cycle should do it, for clothing. And since I’m not due for another 4 weeks I kind of want to spray the toys and stroller down with Lysol now. Any tips? should I wash these things twice?

Cuddly toys/teddy bears etc can carry infections so I wouldnt take them!
