is this bad for a baby with colic?
my son- nearly 6 weeks has colic and i was told to give him a mixture made up of fresh fennel seeds and hot water, and to give him a few teaspoons when it had cooled each day. now i know fennel is a natural herb or whatever it is but i was wondering if there are any know effects it can have and is it safe for a newborn? thanks in advance..
he has SMA Gold and breastmilk. He was born late and was a massive 9lb 7oz with a few health issues he got from a difficult labour.
Fennel is a good . but I dunno about giving that to a baby. A baby stomach is so much more tender than ours. I know that Cat mint is a good one. But this is dead of winter now and it is not growing. Try some pepper mint. Just a little tho as a baby might not be able to handle it. I just thought , Pepper mint won’t work either as it is not growing now. Try a candy cane and crush it very fine and use just a little of hot water to melt it and then use it as a syrup, Don’t make it too strong . Mint is very good for stomach problems. Maybe you should just check with the doctor to make sure. Many years ago they use this stuff called paregoric, But don’t even go there. I would just ask the doctor to be on the safe side. Overdue with baby 3 advice needed pls help ?
IM 40 +2 days and this is baby 3 i have refued to be induced as i kn ow how awful it is the midwives are offering me a membrane sweep but dont want that either really as i had one with my 1st baby and it hurt and her birth was 24 hrs long. Id like as natural a birth as possible and now im overdue i need advice on how long i safe to wait before allowing a sweep. Has anyone been through this at all. I had a fast birth with my 2nd baby and he was 4 days early only 15 months ago. The baby is measuring 2 weeks ahead so its worrying me how big he will get if i go too overdue. Have tried all the natural ways from old wives tales to herbs to oils sex everything
First babies always take longer to deliver. A membrane sweep is painful, but just for a while. If it brings on labor it is worth it. Remember that the placenta starts to fail at forty weeks, and stops delivering the proper oxygen and nutrition at about 42 weeks. So I would have her sweep your membranes and go for a long walk. You have tried everything else.
