quick questions need answers?
Well i might pick up a duck tomorrow from a person who has a lot of them.
1) Anyways what kind of food would a baby duck eat?
2)This might also be stupid question but do they get fleas?
3)Also i have a pool and im wondering when we use chemicals to clean it (first day or two we don’t even swim in it wouldn’t let a duck either) but would it be safe for the duck to swim after that?
1. Ducklings eat gamebird starter or flock raiser. You can purchase it at most feed stores. DO NOT feed them chick starter or human food–it will make them sick! Go to the nearest feed store and they will help you get some flock raiser so they have proper nutrition.
2. They do not get fleas. They are quite messy and smelly, however.
3. It is not safe for the duck to swim in a pool that has been treated with chemicals. They will drink the water, which is bad for them. Also, do not allow the ducklings to swim until they have all their feathers in–they are not waterproof and will mostly likely get cold and die, if they don’t drown first. Ducks should be near fresh, non-chemically treated water, such as a pond or a small pool with no chemicals used in it.

i guess i might have to buy it a little kids pool then.
Qn 1) Baby ducks like mashed up tuna or sardines. Bascily anything that has fish in it.
Qn 2) Yes ducks do get fleas. But not really the fleas that dogs and cats get. More like ones that just make them feel uncomfortable.
Qn 3) No it wouldn’t be safe for the duck to swim in it if there were chemicals in it. Ducks swim under the water often and use it to bath. Chemicals would get all over the duck and could possibly cause something serious. Like a rash or feather loss. Depending on what chemical you use.
