What would you do about this car seat situation?

My husband is a band director. Over spring break the band is taking a charter bus to Dallas (Texas), which is about 5 hours from where we live. Yay for free trips :) But the problem is there aren’t any seatbelts in the charter bus. My son will have just turned 1 the week before. I DO NOT feel comfortable just holding him on the bus, or just putting him in the seat without strapping it in. What would you do? Would you just take your own car? My husband keeps saying that buses are safe and he’d be fine, but I just don’t think they’re safe enough to risk by baby’s life.
Opinions or suggestions on how to strap the car seat in would be great! Thanks :)

Like several others have said, drive yourself. It’s likely you and your son would be o.k. (kinda how it’s *likely* that you’d be fine taking him out in your car one time without a car seat… but you wouldn’t imagine considering that, would you?), but your trip overall would be more enjoyable if you’re not fretting the whole time. Not only would you feel better about your little one being in a secure car seat, but you yourself would be fastened in a seatbelt (even if you found a way to secure your son’s seat–an anchor or installing a belt–it would suck for him if anything happened to you for not having a seatbelt). You’ll enjoy your trip a lot more. Besides, how much do you want to be on a bus with a bunch of kids (assuming your husband is a high school director…??? sorry if i’m mistaken) and try to wrangle a 1-year-old? Not saying his band members aren’t great and that it wouldn’t be good socialization for your little guy, just that it would be tough if your son is tired or needs to stop, etc. There seem to be many variables that would be out of your control if you rode on the bus with your husband and the band.

Good luck, and no matter what you decide, enjoy your trip!

Staying with mom during Pregnancy?

Okay so here is the situation. I am 34 weeks pregnant. My hospital is half an hour away from where I live. (The hospital here is very dirty and just generally not good. Everyone here goes to a Dallas hospital if they can make it.) My husband works 12 hour shifts. I want to stay with my Mom the last couple weeks of my pregnancy (she lives closer to the hospital and she will always be with me.) So my questions is “What is the appropriate amount of time to stay with her that is being safe for me and the baby but not long enough to annoy her?” Considering I don’t go into labor early. How long is too long? 3 weeks? 2 weeks? I just don’t want us to get sick of each other. Plus my husband will be working so I will be away from him while I am at my Mom’s.

honey it is up to you but i say a month and a half just in case the baby is early and 2 weeks after the baby so ahe can help
